Event details
Directed by choreographer and transdisciplinary artist Alexey Taran, alongside filmmaker Carla Forte, the 305 INTERNATIONAL IMPROV FEST is a celebration of improvisation in both performance and film. This year, 305IIF’25 presents a series of screenings and performances that explore the depths of improvisational art, bringing together performing artists, filmmakers, and audiences across the city. Spanning two consecutive weeks, the festival unfolds in the vibrant cities of Miami and San José.
Dedicated to showcasing improvisation across performance and film, the 305 INTERNATIONAL IMPROV FEST ’25 (IX Edition) offers a dynamic program featuring masterclasses led by esteemed international artists, carefully curated screenings, and exhilarating performances that dive into the essence of improvisation. Partnering venues include the Miami-Dade County Auditorium On.Stage Black Box Theatre, INKUB8 BlackBox, and Teatro de la Danza in San José, Costa Rica.
This year, 2025, XR, Film & Improv Lab, a new film program, is being introduced, sponsored, supported, and developed in collaboration with
O Cinema. This program will provide filmmakers from both cities with the opportunity to participate in an artistic residency where they will create an experimental short film to be showcased during the festival and will be available on O Verse O Cinema’s webxr. Additionally, the program will include mentorship by renowned international filmmaker Marcia Beatriz Granero (Brazil).
XR, Film & Improv Lab is a laboratory for the creation of experimental and improvisational films, held in parallel with and as part of the 305 International Improv Festival (305IIF). Now in its 9th year, the festival continues to expand, and this year, O Cinema will join forces with Bistoury Physical Theater and Film to co-present the event. Bistoury will curate the improvisational dance component, while O Cinema will oversee the XR/improvisational film section.
